Michael C. Flaxman, Esq. is a co-founder of Ford & Flaxman PLLC, a law office dedicated to excellence in the practice of family law. Prior to the formation of Ford & Flaxman PLLC, Attorney Flaxman’s private practice was focused on all aspects of contested divorce and custody matters involving high net-worth individuals with complex asset structures, such as business professionals, athletes, and their spouses. Additionally, Attorney Flaxman has extensive experience in the areas of relocations of minor children, nuptial agreements, appeals, and guardianships (both minor and adult).
Born in New York, Attorney Flaxman relocated to South Florida at an early age. Based upon his prior academic success, Attorney Flaxman was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Florida. Mr. Flaxman completed his undergraduate degree with high honors in just three years, when he obtained his B.S.B.A in Finance in 1998. Attorney Flaxman then continued his education at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, graduating in 2002. In law school, Attorney Flaxman was awarded the Cali Award (top grade in the class) for Property Law, Secured Transactions, and Lawyering Process.
In 2014, Attorney Flaxman joined the prestigious firm of Jimmerson Hansen, P.C. (now Jimmerson Law Firm, P.C.) where he represented high-net worth individuals in complex divorce and custody matters. Since 2018, Attorney Flaxman has continued his work with high-net worth individuals and high conflict custody matters in his own private practice. The goal of Ford & Flaxman PLLC is to provide superior legal representation to high-net worth individuals in all aspects of domestic relation matters, with a superlative focus on favorable outcomes and unparalleled service for such individuals.
While Attorney Flaxman’s goal is to resolve all matters without the necessity for extensive litigation or trial, in certain circumstances that may not be possible. In 2015, Attorney Flaxman was an integral part of a team of trial attorneys responsible for appellate issues following what is believed to be the longest trial in the history of the southern Nevada Family Court, more than 31 days. Ultimately, due to Attorney Flaxman and his team’s efforts, the client was successful in the appeal process. Attorney Flaxman has also been an essential member of a team of attorneys who litigated complex financial matters including one case where up to one billion dollars was at issue.
Attorney Flaxman is knowledgeable about the complexities related to divorces involving high asset individuals and is sensitive to the discretion they require. Attorney Flaxman’s education and experience in finance and accounting has been instrumental to such clientele. Moreover, he has a proven history of settlement of such matters prior to trial, while remaining keenly focused on client driven results.
Often the most important issues to Attorney Flaxman’s clients, and himself as family law practitioner, are those related to custody of their children. Mr. Flaxman has extensive experience in the most highly contested custody actions, which has included a nine (9) day trial on a requested modification of custody.
Attorney Flaxman is knowledgeable about the importance of both prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, having drafted countless agreements for clients to protect the assets they have toiled to accumulate. Such agreements drafted by Attorney Flaxman have been instrumental in protecting his clients’ assets and any attempt to invalidate same by the other spouse have been wholly unsuccessful.
From several years, Attorney Flaxman has been recognized by the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada’s Pro Bono Project for representation of low-income individuals, who would not have otherwise been able to obtain an attorney. Each year he was recognized, Attorney Flaxman’s volunteer work exceeded 250+ hours of representation for such clients and he routinely achieved successful outcomes.
